I believe that at the heart of any work together is
the client/therapist relationship and strive to promote a collaborative and
supportive partnership from the beginning. Troubling and distressing
problems or areas of feeling stuck or overwhelmed can then be explored in a
trusting, safe and understanding environment, using a person-centred approach that places the client as the
respected ‘expert’ in their realm of experience.
|
|

I draw
upon various psychological theories and use tried and tested psychological
tools and techniques that are matched to the client’s specific, individual
needs. These include Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural
and Schema Therapy. The aim of therapy is firstly to formulate the root
cause and what maintains or even exacerbates the problem; this then enables
the client to gain insight and to find solutions, providing a positive way
forward and a sense of growing empowerment and self-worth. It is often a
journey of self-discovery.

|

The ultimate goal is for the client to work through
the difficulties they are experiencing and to move on from feeling out of
control to a place of calm reflection, inner peace and self-fulfilment.
